Are Americans Really This Stupid?

Over the past 8 years, Republicans have been in control of the government and they have not done a good job governing the nation. A recent article from Yahoo News says that McCain has taken the lead in a new poll. Here's a key part of the article that illustrates a problem area for Obama:
McCain leads Obama by 55 percent to 37 percent among whites. That includes comfortable leads of 24 points with suburban whites and 26 points with whites who haven't finished college, and has similar advantages with white men and whites who are married.

He also leads by 23 points among rural voters and by 13 points with voters age 65 and over.

In a sane world, Obama would be crushing McCain but we still live in a nation where a lot of white people will not vote for a candidate with dark skin. I tend to vote for 3rd party candidates but I would rather see Obama win because this nation cannot handle 4 more years of Republican leadership.

Mccain and Obama Grapple For Mantle of Change

When I saw the title of this article, I laughed my ass off. If we are looking at just the two major parties in this election, Obama carries the "mantle of change". Mccain is trying to make the population forget that he is still a Republican and that before this election, he sided with George W. Bush most of the time. Obama may not be the best candidate in the world but if I had to pick between the two, I would pick Obama.

Libertarian

I would like everyone to know that I am not a member of the Libertarian Party. I am an independent when it comes to political parties and libertarian in my political philosophy.

Here is where I stand on some of the issues.

Abortion -- Personally I am against abortion but I also believe that government does not have the right to tell a woman what she should do.

Iraq -- Let the Iraqi government and people take over and get our troops out of there.

Iran -- Under the NPT, Iran has the right to develop nuclear energy.

Gun Control -- See the 2nd amendment. Every American has the right to bear arms. I believe that if concealed carry was allowed in places like Chicago, you would see crime drop.

Illegal Immigration -- I have been going back and forth on this issue for years. I believe that more security should be on our borders. Every person found trying to sneak in should be deported. We should have a massive lottery where only 5 million of the over 15 million illegal immigrants are allowed to become citizens and stay. Illegal immigrants should not be allowed to get food stamps or social security.

Social Security -- S.S. definitely needs to be reformed. There will be millions of baby boomers retiring soon and I do not want to pay increased taxes to help ease these people into retirement. Anyone under 35 years old should be allowed to privately invest the funds normally allocated for social security.

Palin's Unmarried Daughter Is Pregnant

This presidential race becomes more interesting as we get closer to election day. Palin claims to be a social conservative/family values candidate but her teenage daughter is pregnant. From my viewpoint, the behavior and conduct of children are a reflection of the values of the parents and how the parents raised the child. Obama or Mccain?

Mccain -- After 8 years of George Dubya Bush, I will never vote for a Republican. Mccain wants to continue the policies of Bush and he thinks that by choosing a woman to be his VP, he can get the female voters who are still pissed off at Barack Obama. The Mccain/Palin ticket will be more of the same big government social conservatism that Bush/Cheney gave us from 2001-2008.

Obama -- I want to believe in Obama but something about him seems disingenuous. He flip flops as much as John Kerry but his oratorical ability seems to mesmerize people to the point where they do not see this flaw. He talks about change yet he panders to Israel, wants to bomb Iran/Pakistan, and chooses a man who voted for the Iraq war to be his VP. Obama's skin may be as dark as mine but that's not a good enough reason to vote for him.

Conclusion -- Chances are very high that I will vote for a 3rd party candidate in November. I would like to vote for Obama but something in my gut tells me that he is nothing more than a puppet.

Chicago Early Voting

I am going to vote early because I'll be out of town on Feb. 5 aka Super Tuesday. I can't vote for any of the Republicans because I do not agree with the war-mongering, tax cuts for the wealthy, Reagan worshipping cretins. Hillary Clinton is just more of the same DLC, triangulating crap that we had in the 1990s and Barack Obama speaks of change but I have no idea what the hell he wants to change. Edwards voted for the Patriot Act and the Iraq war and now he wants up to believe he's a liberal populist. lmfao!! Kucinich has dropped out of the election but I think I might vote for him anyway.

Economic Stimulus or Welfare

I think that the new economic stimulus plan hatched by Congress and President Bush is nothing more than welfare. This is nothing more than a diversion. The people in power are trying to stop you from thinking about the decline of the dollar and the 9 trillion dollar debt we have accumulated. This tax rebate crap is a joke. It's almost like Dubya Bush is trying to buy off the populace.

Economic Stimulus Might Be Too Late
